Butler Crossing is located on SR 356 in Butler Township, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles from Pittsburgh. Built in 2009, it consists of 220,715 square feet of retail shops including Kohl's, Ross Dress for Less, Shoe Carnival, Rue 21, Five Below, Michaels, Petco, Dollar Tree, Clearview Credit Union, First Commonwealth Bank, Applebee's, McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, Verizon Wireless and Bottom Dollar.
Butler Crossing is adjacent to another Cedarwood Development retail center, the very successful Butler Commons. Between the two powerful shopping centers, the overall gross leasable area is in excess of 679,000 square feet.
Cedarwood Development put the deal together and is responsible for leasing. Cedarwood Architectural created the design. And Tri-C Construction built this project.
The design was driven by the Owner’s goals of: complementing the design to the adjacent Butler Crossing shopping center; cost-efficient construction; and building during the winter months. A structural steel perimeter frame was chosen to allow for speedy erection during the cold weather. The exterior skin was made of metal stud framing with a mixture of brick-look concrete masonry units and EIFS on the visible elevations with a metal stud / metal wall panel system at the rear. Metal accent awnings and the color of the masonry tied into the existing Butler Commons complex.
